bluebird of happiness

at certain intersections around the city, i’ve noticed a bird dangling from a wire, counterbalanced by a padlock, swinging in the breeze. when i first noticed this in my neighborhood, i thought, “wow, that’s cute.” and took a picture. then i saw one near my workplace in manhattan and i thought, “that bird must be my good luck charm because he’s following me!”. and then cadin told me that he saw one near his studio in williamsburg. now i am not so sure that the birds are there just to be good luck charms for me, but they are still pretty damn cute.
